The story begins with the legendary artifact of Shaolin Temple which has been guarded throughout the centuries, "the ring of life and death", seeking to promote the notion of righteousness, loyalty and benevolence as well as the highest level Taoism enlightenment. This film cast Li Bing, Ding Lan, Nie Jianguo and Cui Yi. The main plot is about the prince of Luling kingdom – Yezishu (played by Li Bing) who was taught by Shaolin monks to practice gongfu and righteousness while also educating transmitted knowledge in order to protect his family and others. In the end, upon success in achieving true cultivation through Shaolin martial arts, Yezishu moved all his masters and his then ten apprentices. In essence, this movie conveys wisdom such as moral obligation, altruistic principles and uprightness. It aims to inspire one's conscience – that our beautiful traditional Chinese culture lasts forever
